The Dean McDowell plant is a delightful cross between two other popular philodendrons—the Philodendron gloriosum and the Philodendron pastazanum. Created in 1988 by John Banta and his green-thumbed sorcery, then he lovingly named it after his buddy, Dean McDowell. This plant is famous for its beautiful glossy green leaves with white veins and a stunning stem. With stems that grow along the surface of the soil, this Philodendron sends down deep roots and sends up giant, heart-shaped leaves. As you consider how to repot it, this plant thrives in a self-watering planter. So, although it will be delivered in a nursery pot, using a planter like the one shown here is an option for you.

All sales are final for our plants because they are a living perishable product. We work hard and take great care of your plants before packing them up really well. However, shipping can be unpredictable and rough on delicate items so, when you purchase plants online, you're taking on the risk that comes with it, like leaves turning yellow or getting torn during shipping. Little nicks, bruises, and tears are normal as plants grow, usually due to things like wind, moisture, or rain, and don't count as damage. If there's any damage, shoot us an email at info@lovelucysplants.com within 2 days of getting your order, and send over some pics of the damage. We'll work with you to sort it out. If you don't get in touch within 2 days, we will still give you tips on how to care for your new plant buddy. Additionally, it's up to you to keep track of your order as it is in transit, this way the plant is brought inside right away and unwrapped like the present that it is!
